1. ifconfig interface:N plumb
2. ifconfig interface:N ip_adress up

example:

1. ifconfig ce0:1 plumb
2. ifconfig ce0:1 192.168.1.1 netmask 255.255.255.0 up

to enable this IP alias at startup

1. create /etc/hostname.ce0:1 and type a name for this IP

1. cat /etc/hostname.ce0:1

host_1

2. Add IP & host entry to the /etc/hosts

192.168.1.1 host_1 # IP alias for ce0 interface
